Riding Overview
This riding covers the central areas of the city of Ottawa and has been represented by the NDP since 2004, when Canadian statesman Ed Broadbent took the seat from the Liberals, who had held it since 1988. The current incumbent, NDP MP Paul Dewar, son of former Ottawa mayor, Marion Dewar, is the Foreign Affairs Critic for the official opposition. Dewar, who won the riding in 2011 with over 52% of the vote, is seeking re-election in October.
