Located in southwestern Ontario, this riding was won by the Conservatives in 2004 in a close race with the Liberals. Since then, Conservative support has increased, with the incumbent, MP Jeff Watson, taking 48% of the vote in 2011. Support for the NDP also increased, with that party taking 35% of the vote in 2011. In 2004, 2006 and 2008, the Liberals and NDP combined had over 50% of the vote in Essex. Watson is seeking re-election in October.
