A largely rural riding in Nova Scotia, Kings—Hants has been held by Liberal MP Scott Brison since 2003. Brison was originally voted in as a Progressive Conservative in 2000, before changing party affiliation. Prior to that, the riding had long been held by Conservatives. The NDP have traditionally secured about 20% of the vote. Brison is seeking re-election in October, as will the 2011 Conservative candidate, David Morse, who lost to Brison in 2011 by only 3% of the vote (just over 1000 votes).
