Riding Overview
This riding has been held by Conservative MP Joy Smith since it was created in 2004. There was a two-way race in 2004, and the Conservatives defeated the Liberals by only 278 votes. Since then, support for the Liberal party has declined. In 2011, Smith took 58% of the vote, with the NDP in second place with 30%. Smith is not seeking re-election in October.
