Elmwood—Transcona
Riding Overview
Traditionally an NDP stronghold, Elmwood—Transcona was taken by the Conservatives in 2011 by a margin of less than 600 votes. While the Green and Liberal candidates were never truly in the race, their combined vote (8%) was enough to split votes with the NDP to secure a Conservative win. The incumbent, Conservative MP Lawrence Toet, is seeking re-election in October. Daniel Blaikie, the son of Bill Blaikie, who held this seat for 20 years (from 1988 to 2008), will also be running as the NDP candidate.
