This rural eastern Ontario riding has been strongly Conservative in recent history. Before 2000, the seat consistently went to the Liberals, but the incumbent, Conservative MP Cheryl Gallant has held it ever since, regularly securing over 50% of the vote. Gallant is seeking re-election in October.
