Riding Overview

This potential swing riding is mostly made up of the city of Guelph. It has been Liberal since 1993, and was briefly Progressive Conservative before that. Recently, the Conservatives have been a close second. In 2008, the Liberals took 32% of the vote, while the Conservatives had 29%, the Greens 21% and the NDP 16%. Conservative support increased to 32% in 2011, but the Liberal incumbent Frank Valeriote won with 43%. In 2011, both the Liberals and Conservatives were implicated in robocall scandals. Valeriote is not seeking re-election in October.
