Let's Talk About Last Week: New Website And Polls!

Let’s start with a number.

3648.

That’s how many new pledges have come in through the new votetogether.ca website since we launched it last Thursday. And that number doesn’t even include all the pledges that have been collected over the phone or on the doors in that time!

This last week has been a game changer for the Vote Together campaign. We launched our new election website at votetogether.ca, and received national media coverage for the results of crowdfunded local polling in 13 key ridings that show a decline in the Conservative vote across Canada.

Votetogether.ca

On Thursday our new election website went live at votetogether.ca. The website is a one-stop shop for change in this election. We’ve packed it full of information on all 338 ridings across the country: past election results, current polling, and soon we’ll include the parties’ positions on key issues.

Votetogether.ca is how we’ll mobilize hundreds of thousands of people to take action in this election. It’s the tool we’ll use to support and grow our volunteer teams on the ground, the phones, and online.

And it’s already working. Since last Thursday when the website went live 3648 people have gone on to pledge to Vote Together on October 19. We’ve also seen a surge in volunteers as people across Canada hear about our campaign. Since Thursday 326 new people have signed up to canvass door to door in their riding and 395 new people have put their hand up to join the Call Team and make phone calls into key ridings.

We’ll be adding more to votetogether.ca soon, including the parties positions on key issues and more polling. For now, please let us know what you think, and share the site with your friends and family and on social media!

Polling

As well as launching our election website, last week we released the first of our riding levels polls. You can find the full Environics report on these 13 riding level polls here. The results show a significant drop in Conservative support in BC and a general decline in support for the Conservatives across the board.

However, while the drop in Conservative support is very good news, we can’t sit back for a second. The Conservatives have stacked the deck with the biggest election warchest and a voter suppression law that will turn thousands of people away at the polls, and we need to keep building a massive community of voters to defeat them.

The results so far show the NDP are currently best poised to defeat them in some parts, while the Liberals are currently best poised to defeat them in others. We’ll try to do two more rounds of polling in most of these targeted swing ridings to track the evolving state of the race.

And, for now, it’s important to note that in many ridings the fall in support for the Conservatives has resulted in a three way race in which the opposition parties risk splitting the vote and electing a Conservative MP.

So while the results of these polls are encouraging, they make it clear that unless we unite and Vote Together for the best candidate to defeat the Conservative’s there is a real risk that the Harper government will be re-elected on October 19.

Head to votetogether.ca to find your riding and join us to defeat the Harper Conservatives on October 19!
