4 Ways That Vote Together is Changing Politics

TORONTO, September 8, 2015 -- Vote Together is a new tool developed to help voters across the country unite to vote for change this election and defeat the Conservatives.

The tool is developed by Leadnow, an independent advocacy organization that includes over 460,000 people across Canada. The impacts are already being seen in important swing ridings this election, with Vote Together quickly excelling in four key areas:

1. Fighting for change

VoteTogether.ca is helping NDP, Liberal and Green voters who are tired of watching their votes split so that Harper can get 100% of the power with just 39% of the vote. But they're not just helping voters unite to defeat Conservatives in swing ridings - by creating a simple entrance point for new, young and undecided voters, VoteTogether.ca is shifting power to people who have been shut out from decisions about the country's future.

2. Crowdfunding polling

As an independent and nonpartisan campaign, Vote Together is funded through the generous donations of its community. In order to pay for detailed, riding-specific polling, Vote Together is using crowdfunding as an innovative new measure. Voters can contribute to have their ridings polled so they have best local information to pick the best local candidate who can win.

3. Democracy based decisions

In swing ridings a Conservative candidate could win if the vote splits between the opposition, VoteTogether.ca will offer people the best local information about the state of the race and the party positions on three major areas: strong democracy, fair economy and clean environment. Equipped that that information, the Vote Together pledge signers will decide which local candidate they will select to collectively support at the polls. Leadnow will not tell pledgers who to vote for, but instead provide them the information they need to make the best local choice.

4. Connecting tens of thousands of voters.

Vote Together has already had over 60,000 Canadians pledge to come together for change this election. In addition, over 1200 Canadians have signed up to canvass their neighbourhoods and man the phone lines. These volunteers and voters who have pledged span the country and together help to amplify their message - we want change.
