Created in 1997, Desnethé—Missinippi—Churchill River has experienced two- and three-way races between the Liberals, the Conservatives, and the NDP. Conserative MP Rob Clarke has held the riding since 2008, with the remaining votes split between the NDP and the Liberals. Based on 2011 results, there will likely be a two-way race between the Conservatives and the NDP for this seat. Clarke is seeking for re-election in October.
