Riding Overview

Traditionally a safe non-Conservative riding north of Lake Superior, although the Conservatives took 30% of the vote in 2011. NDP MP Bruce Hyer, who has held the seat since 2008 (and almost took it in 2006 from the Liberals), won the 2011 election with 50% of the vote. In 2011 the Green Party candidate received 3% of the vote. In 2013, Hyer crossed the floor to join the Green Party, and he is running for the Green Party in October.
