Historically a safe Liberal riding until the 2008 election, when the Conservative party began to experience an increase in support. In 2011, the Liberals lost the seat to NDP MP Dan Harris. Former Toronto police chief, Bill Blair, is running for the Liberals in October, and Harris is also seeking re-election.
