Riding Overview

This riding was created in 2004 and has elected Liberal MP John McKay in each consecutive election. Between 2004 and 2011, McKay received nearly double, and sometimes more than double, the number of votes than his closest runner-up, which has historically been a Conservative. However, in the 2011 election, because of a surge in NDP support and an increase in support for the Conservatives, the Liberals won the seat by a margin of just 691 votes. McKay is seeking re-election in October.
