Riding Overview

A new potential swing riding made from parts of the Markham—Unionville and Thornhill ridings. Markham—Unionville, which makes up most of the riding, was narrowly won by the Liberals in 2011, who secured 3% more of the vote than the Conservatives. According to 2011 results in the newly defined area, the Liberal's margin of victory would have been even smaller at 1.5%. Liberal John McCallum, who is currently the MP for Markham—Unionville, is running for this seat in October.
