Riding Overview
Traditionally a Liberal stronghold, the Conservatives took this eastern Ontario riding in 2006 by less than 0.5% of the vote (203 votes). Conservative support has increased since then, but has yet to surpass 50%. In 2011, the incumbent, Conservative MP Pierre Lemieux, took 49% of the vote, the Liberals took 31% and the NDP took 17%. Lemieux, who is anti-choice on the issue of abortion, is seeking re-election in October.
