A new riding made from the existing Ajax—Pickering riding, which has been held by the Conservatives since 2011. Prior to that, Ajax—Pickering had been Liberal by margins over the Conservatives that varied from 6% to 16% between 2004 and 2008. The incumbent, Conservative MP Chris Alexander, is running in October, as is Liberal Mark Holland, who held the seat from 2004-2011.
