Jonquière
Riding Overview
This is a Conservative swing riding, having changed hands in the last decade between Bloc Québécois, Conservatives and the NDP. In 2011, Claude Patry was elected as an NDP candidate with 7% more of the vote than the Conservative candidate. However, in 2013, Patry left the NDP to join the Bloc Québécois. In 2014, Patry, a strong separatist, indicated he would step away from politics, but has since indicated he will run for re-election in October now that Gilles Duceppe is once again leading the Parti Quebecois.
