Riding Overview

This new riding includes areas from two ridings in the Gaspé region of eastern Quebec, neither of which are historically Conservative, but traditionally vote for the Bloc Québécois. In what is now Haute-Gaspésie—La Mitis—Matane—Matapédia, part of which will make up Avignon—La Mitis—Matane—Matapédia, a Bloc Québécois candidate was elected in 2011, but left the party in 2014. In Gaspésie—Îles-de-la-Madeleine, the NDP beat the Bloc Québécois in 2011, with the Conservatives a distant third.
