Fredericton has been a Conservative–Liberal swing riding for decades, and may become a battleground for all four national parties in October. The Conservative incumbent, MP Keith Ashfield, won this riding by 11,000 votes in 2011, but the Liberals and the NDP were less than 300 votes apart. The election of Green MLA David Coon in Fredericton South has challenged conventional expectations in this riding. Ashfield is seeking re-election in October.
