Riding Overview

A traditionally Conservative riding, Central Nova is currently held by Conservative MP Peter MacKay, but he is not seeking re-election in October. Elizabeth May ran for the seat in 2008, securing 32% of the vote for the Greens, but losing to incumbent MacKay, who received 47%. MacKay, who took over 55% of the vote in 2011, is stepping out of politics.
