A traditionally safe non-Conservative riding, Cardigan is located in eastern Prince Edward Island. Liberal MP Lawrence MacAulay has held the riding since 1988, although the Conservatives have come very close to taking the riding in previous elections. MacAulay is seeking re-election in October.
